She attended University Training School, Morton Jr High School and Henry Clay High School in Lexington, KY. Graduated Sweet Briar College and attended UK Graduate School. 4 Children – Caroline Clay, Jean Cecil, John Thomas III and Benjamin Buckner Perry. 6 Grandchildren – Caroline Hardesty, Evan Hunt Perry, Kaitlin Perry, Kaegan Perry, Elijah Perry and Julian Perry. President YWCA, Vice-President United Way, President National Society of Colonial Dames. Started first spouse abuse center in Lexington. Chaired committee for restoration of Liberty Hall Museum House in Frankfort. Goofed off a lot and collected art & antiques. She loved her family and her beloved friends Frances Barr, Rececca Spencer, Nicholas Miller, and Sally Headley, along with so many other dear, underserved friends. Other passions include the Fabulous Florida Keys and San Cristobal de las Casas (Mexico), the music of Leonard Cohen and Jo Stafford, and the poetry of Edna St Vincent Millay. She was indeed a talented poet in her own right. Wherever she went, people were captivated by her warmth, energy, wit and offbeat sense of humor. She leaves behind a devoted fan club that will miss her terribly. In lieu of Flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Greenhouse17 spouse abuse center, Lexington KY.
