Reza Marefat
Marefat, Reza, 101, widower of Mehangiz Khashe Marefat, died Fri. June 18, 2010 at his residence. Born in Tehran, Iran, he was the son of the late Fazel and Khirolnesa Esfandiari Marefat. Mr. Marefat was an educator in the Ministry of Education in Iran and later Congressman from Tehran. Survivors include three sons, Daryoush (Nancy) Marefat, Kourosh (Lavin) Marefat, and Mehrdad (Becky) Marefat; eight grandchildren, Marie (Peter) McClellan, Dover, DE, Elizabeth (Aaron) Welenken, Louisville, KY, Jonathan, Layla, Jessica, and Reza Marefat, all of Lexington, KY; and Ali and Asal Khalilpour, Tehran, Iran; three grandchildren; two sisters, Shahnaz and Zarintaj Marefat. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Nahid Marefat. Visitation 2 – 3:30 pm Mon. at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.
