George Robert "Bob" Moxley

Moxley, George Robert “Bob”, 87, husband of 62 years to Gertrude “Trudy” Whelchel Moxley, died Mon. Mar. 8, 2010 at Wesley Village in Wilmore, KY. Born in Gary, WV, he was the son of the late Fred and Sudie K. Howie Moxley. Bob endured pain for many years but enjoyed life and was never bitter, he could always smile. Rev. Moxley became a Christian at age 8 and was called to the ministry. He graduated from Asbury College in 1947 and completed Seminary at Candler School of Theology at Emory University. He was the pastor at many churches during his life and was a member of the WV Conference. Rev. Moxley attended Centenary United Methodist Church in Lexington and Free Methodist in Wilmore, KY. Survivors include two daughters, Beverly M. (Dave) Schill, Spencer, VA and Joan M. (Wayne) Johnson, Lexington, KY; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Jackie Moxley; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Ron W. Moxley; a brother, Claude Moxley; and a sister, Sylvia Moxley Pack. Funeral services will be 12:30 pm Thurs. at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. by Rev. David E. Schill, Rev. Reed Willbanks, Rev. George Wolfbrant, and Rev. Albert Whelchel. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5-9 pm Wed.
