Carol Miller
Carol J. Miller died on February 18, 2010, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s, in Healthcare Center at Richmond Place in Lexington, Kentucky. The family would like to express a special thank you to all Richmond Place staff and to Carol’s Hospice of the Bluegrass team for the loving care she received during the last months of her life.
She grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and graduated from Purdue University, where she met her husband Sande. Together they raised their family of three children in Park Ridge, Illinois. She was known for her beautiful roses and her extensive knowledge of plants and the natural world. She was very active in the Park Ridge Garden Club and plant conservation, and Presbyterian Women’s Church organizations. She was one of the original founders of the Gulf Breeze Garden Club and served as President, when she and Sande lived in Gulf Breeze, Florida prior to moving to Lexington. She was predeceased by her husband, Sande, who died in April 2008. She is survived by her daughter Karen Miller and husband Leonard Oloff, her son Scott Miller and wife Cleofe Miller, her son Roger Miller and wife Julia Meyer-Miller, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She will be much remembered for her helpful hand and support given not only to her children but many others as well, her infamous chocolate chip cookies, and those perceptable (also known as pierce-able) ears that caught many a hand sneaking into that cookie jar. We will all miss her. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Condolence cards may be sent c/o Karen Miller, 565 Maple St., Apt. 1, White River Junction, VT 05001. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington, KY 40504.
