Evelyn Riley
Evelyn Pfanstiel Riley, widow of E. Carlisle Riley Jr., resident of Richmond Place, Lexington, KY passed away surrounded by family, Feb. 12, 2010. Born in DeMossville KY, to Franklin and Josephine Pfanstiel on Aug. 13, 1919. The summer of 1940 she graduated from Transylvania University, married and moved to Sewickley, PA where she raised her family and later taught. She received her master’s degree from Penn State, returned to Lexington in 1968 and taught at Julia R. Ewan. She was a member of Central Christian Church. While at Richmond Place she appreciated her friends and bridge groups. She is survived by two daughters, Becky Stoeckinger and Carolyn (Gary) Slotnik, Lexington, KY; one son, Edgar C. (Jennifer) Riley III, St. Louis, MO; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Rod) Pederson, Julie (Shannon) Foster, Lexington, Laura (Steve) Mueller, IL, Michael Slotnik, GA, and Ashley Riley, MO; great-grandchildren, Emma, Olivia and Nate Pederson, Kenley Foster, Braigen and Jevin Mueller, Josie Slotnik and Angie Ramirez; nieces and nephews, Jo Daugherty, Lexington, Dorothy Williams, Jr. Pfanstiel, Dick and Frank Terbush. She was predeceased by siblings, Edith (Ward) Daugherty, Marie (Ivan) Terbush, Clarence (Ethel) Pfanstiel, Frank Pfanstiel, Albert (Jean) Pfanstiel, and son-in-law, Tom Stoeckinger. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main St. Private family burial in Lexington Cemetery conducted by Jan Ehrmantraut.
