Emette Hart
Emette Hart, 96, husband of Patricia Hart for 38 years, died at home on Friday, Jan. 1, 2010. Born in Whitesburg, KY on March 14, 1913, he was one of eight children of the late Samuel and Emaline Hart. Mr. Hart started in the contracting business working for his father. He was a general superintendent for his brother, L.M. Hart Road Construction Co. He was also a field engineer for Buegneis Eric Co. and Roy C. Wayne Co. In 1949 he formed the Lovell & Hart Construction Co. This company developed land, subdivisions, built roads in Kentucky and developed Greenbrier and Greenbrier Country Club. He was past president of the Kentucky Highway Division AGC in 1958 and a lifetime member. He attended Whitesburg and Lexington schools and the University of Kentucky. He was a member of American Tree Farm Systems and Stewardship Forester, University of Kentucky Fellow, UK Alumnae Century Club, charter member of Scoville Society, life member of the UK College of Agriculture, member of Macedonia Church on Winchester Rd., and the Masonic Lodge and Shrine. Survivors other than his wife are two sons, David (Robyn) Hart, UT, and C.W. (Linda) Hart, Lexington; a daughter, Connie (Gayle) Sherrod, Winchester; three special friends, Virgil, Gene and Jenny Parick, Powell County; five grandchildren, Curt, Casey and Lucy Hart, Lisa (Rob) Welsh and Scott (Christine) Sherrod; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be private at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main St. Contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington, KY 40504.
