William Hart
William Morris Hart Sr., 87, husband of Dottie Hart for 62 years, died peacefully at home with his family by his side on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009. Born in Whitesburg, KY on May 18, 1922, he was the youngest of eight children of the late Samuel and Emaline Hart. He was a World War II veteran who served in the Army Infantry and was the recipient of three purple hearts. He was a graduate of Henry Clay High School and attended the University of Kentucky. Along with his brother, Emette, and Charlie Lovell, they formed Lovell and Hart Construction Co. (highway contractors). He was the founder and developer of the Greenbrier Estates and Greenbrier Golf and Country Club. Along with his two sons, he co-owned the Country Club. Survivors other than his wife are two sons, Morrie (Louise) Hart, Lexington, and Larry (Jeannie) Hart, Lexington; a daughter, Linda (Briggs) Cochran, Lexington; a brother, Emette (Pat) Hart, Lexington; five grandchildren, Missy (Benji) Marrs, Markey (Bert) Hutchinson, Kristin (Lee) Tatem, Jennifer Cochran and Miles Hart; and five great grandchildren. Services will be private. Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main St. is in charge of arrangements.
