Carol Dailey Thomas
Carolyn Dailey Thomas, 82, of Lexington died September 25, 2022, of End-Stage Parkinson’s. She was born July 22, 1940, to the late Pete R. and Ruby Parker Dailey. Surviving her are husband Earl W. Thomas, son Stephen Glenn Thomas, grandsons Austyn and Dylan Thomas of Lexington, granddaughters Haley (Josh) Parrish and Megan (Logan) Johnson, and three great grandchildren, all of Alabama, two brothers Pete R. Dailey III of Paris and Fred (Sallie) Dailey of Winchester, niece Debra Dailey Ball, nephews Pete IV, Randy and Tommy Dailey. Preceding her in death were her son Earl Walter Thomas Jr., and sisters-in-laws Bettye (Pete) Dailey and Lenette (Fred) Dailey.
Carolyn grew up near Athens, attended Athens School and Boones Creek Baptist Church, actively participating in both. A lover of music, she sung in both church and school choirs and eventually became a church organist. As well as an excellent student, she was also a cheerleader and majorette at Athens School.
Carolyn met Earl Thomas, a ministerial student from Dayton, Ohio, at church. Once he completed his education, they were married and began their life-long Christian Service of Pastoral Ministry. Ultimately, he became Pastor of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, where they served for many years before her illness and his retirement.
Her Funeral Service on September 28, 2022, was held in the Mausoleum at Lexington Cemetery where she was entombed.
