Lucian C. Fain

Lucian Conrad Fain, AKA “Lou” or “Connie”, 81, husband to Billie Kay Fain for 58 years passed peacefully at home of kidney failure after covid. He was the eldest son of the late Lucian C. Fain Sr and Mary Pauline Fain, and brother to the late John L. Fain. Lou was a lifelong resident of Lexington and Fayette Co. and attended Catholic schools and graduated from LCHS in 1960. He was employed by 1st Security Bank for 7 years and then became a LFUCG Firefighter and retired after 23 years of service. Thereafter he worked at Keeneland Racecourse as a mutuel clerk for an additional 20+ years, where he was known to have made a few bets. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his first cousin, Barbara Rankin of Lexington; and her children, Jackie Higgins of Lexington, Bonnie (Paul) Fields of Georgetown, Hal King of Lexington, Phil King of Paris, and Matthew Rankin of Berea. Lou had a passion for older cars and he owned a few. Lou and Kay enjoyed their second home at Lake Cumberland, boating and skiing with family and friends. He made many friends throughout his life; the latest being the “Round Table Group” at Keeneland Racecourse, which included Bob Sanders, Jim Cummins, Joe Corbett, John Hukle; and Jim Poynter (deceased). Visitation will be from 4-7PM Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 463 E. Main St. Lexington, KY. His funeral service will be held at 11AM Thursday, October 6, 2022, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 425 W. Short Street, Lexington KY. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 874 W. Main St. Lexington, KY. Pallbearers are Steve Burton, Mike Burton, Garrett Burton, Paul Fields, Cody Oliver, Norman Jennings, and Josh Saxton. In lieu of flowers, consider donations to St. Paul Catholic Church, Bluegrass Care Navigators, or your favorite charity. The family wants to give sincere thanks to the staff, nurses, and doctors at St. Joseph Hospital, Harrodsburg Road and Bluegrass Care Navigators/Hospice; namely nurse Jennifer, CNA Glenda, and volunteer Katie during his illness.
